Consolidation in Factview (From 2024 Onwards)

What Is Consolidation in Factview?

The Consolidation Module in Factview combines data from multiple underlying companies into a single Consolidation Dossier.

This includes all data available in the Datasets of the company dossiers, such as:

  • Actuals

  • Budgets

  • Plans and Forecasts

Within the Consolidation Dossier, this information can be viewed in different ways, for example:

  • As consolidated totals

  • Per company or entity

  • Per dimension, such as Cost Center or Cost Carrier

How Does Consolidation Work?

The consolidation process in Factview consists of the following steps:

  • Creating the consolidation (setup)

  • Configuring and managing General Ledger Accounts

  • Creating reports within the consolidation

  • Updating the consolidation periodically (for example, monthly)

  • Maintaining and optimizing the consolidation

What Is a Consolidation Dossier?

A Consolidation Dossier is a separate dossier within Factview that contains data from multiple linked company entities.

Each company dossier contains the financial information for a single company or organization, including:

  • Financial transactions

  • Budgets

  • Forecasts

This data is imported into the Consolidation Dossier, where it can be analyzed:

  • As consolidated data

  • Separately for each entity

Requirements for Consolidation

Before creating a consolidation, the following requirements must be met:

  • All underlying company dossiers have been created.

  • Each dossier is connected to an accounting system, either through a direct connection or an Audit File.

This ensures that every dossier contains the required source data, including:

  • General Ledger Accounts

  • Cost Centers

  • Financial Transactions

Managing Report Structures

The Consolidation Dossier is also used to manage Report Structures.

This includes:

  • Factview's standard Report Structures

  • Custom Report Structures

These structures are managed centrally within the consolidation and can be automatically applied to the underlying company dossiers.

This provides a single central location for managing both the report structures and their associated mappings.

Flexibility of the Consolidation

The consolidation is fully flexible and can be modified at any time. For example, you can:

  • Add or remove companies

  • Split or merge General Ledger Accounts

  • Update mappings

  • Add new Report Structures
