Factview Glossary

Actuals

The actual recorded values (amounts or other metrics, such as quantities) for previous accounting periods.

The source of this data is an accounting package (through a connection in the Factview Import Module) or an imported audit file or template file.

Analysis Report

A numerical and graphical assessment of an organization's financial and economic performance.

Actual values are compared with predefined targets. The report provides insight into revenue, expenses, profitability, liquidity, equity, creditworthiness, and accounts receivable and payable.

Administrator

A user with administrative permissions who has access to all Factview functionality.

Chartview

A graphical representation of data based on a report structure that can be designed by the user.

A Chartview report can display multiple charts and tables simultaneously. User-defined zoom levels make it possible to drill down into detailed information.

Consolidation

The process of combining two or more companies (dossiers) based on separate financial administrations.

Consolidation Dossier

A separate environment (database) in which data from multiple company or organization administrations is combined and presented.

Consolidation Module

A collection of features that supports the consolidation process, including:

  • Managing general ledger accounts

  • Eliminating intercompany amounts

  • Updating the consolidation

  • Copying reports and mappings to underlying entities

  • Splitting reports by entity

Dashboard

The area within Factview where opened reports are displayed.

When a report is opened through Reports, it appears in the Dashboard alongside any previously opened reports. Reports can be closed using the X on the report tab.

Dataset

A collection of data used by Factview reports.

A Dataset presents data from one or more linked Import Sets, allowing data from different years or sources to be combined.

Administrators can create or delete Datasets.

Dimension

An alternative way of selecting data in addition to the general ledger account.

Supported dimensions include:

  • Cost center

  • Product

  • Project

  • Product group

  • Journal

  • Relation

These dimensions must also exist in the connected accounting package.

Dossier

A separate database that stores the financial administration of a single organization.

A dossier can also contain data from multiple administrations. In that case, it is referred to as a Consolidation Dossier.

Users can define which data is placed in specific rows and columns.

Excelviews are commonly used for management reports, monthly reports, and annual financial statements.

Available via:

These reports are based on the standard report structure and can be opened through:

Main Menu → Reports → Factviews

Examples include:

  • Financial administration

  • Budget

  • Planning

  • Non-financial data

To display an Import Set in reports, it must be linked to a Dataset.

Mapping

The process of linking general ledger accounts to a report structure in Factview.

Viewer

A user with read-only access.

Viewers can view and analyze reports but cannot modify dossier settings.

Planning Module

The module used to create budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.

The calculated results are stored as an Import Set and linked to a Dataset, making them available in reports.

Performance Report

A report that evaluates an organization's financial performance based on predefined target values.

Reporting Module

The standard Factview module where financial and planning data is stored and analyzed.

Report Structure

The hierarchical layout of a report consisting of categories, sections, and subgroups.

Once general ledger accounts have been mapped to this structure, amounts are automatically displayed according to this layout.

These include Performance Reports, Analysis Reports, and Action Point Reports containing recommendations.

Performance Report Targets

Target values entered by the user that are used for the automatic evaluations in the Reportviews.

This is commonly used to provide managers or board members with access to specific reports.

All general ledger accounts must be mapped to this structure.
